About this event
It’s a Washington Irving Christmas at The NewSouth Bookstore! Join us for a festive program featuring Alan Gantzhorn, who will take us on a literary journey back in time, to old New York, presenting about the life and work of Washington Irving — writer, essayist, biographer, historian, and diplomat, Famous for his short stories “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” he is almost as famous for shaping our ideas about the Christmas holiday and how it is celebrated. Irving’s portrayal of St. Nicholas as a beloved character still inspires today. Thanks to Alan Gantzhorn for bringing an old Christmas spirit to the bookstore this year. What a merry, merry literary way to celebrate the holiday! Thursday, December 3 at 5:30pm.
