- ➤ Make-A-Wish Alabama launches its 10th Trailblaze Challenge, a 12 week hiking program training volunteers to complete a 26 mile trek in Talladega National Forest to raise funds for kids with life-threatening illnesses. Information sessions run Jan. 6 to Jan. 22 in Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville. WSFA 12

- ➤ 7Brew Coffee will open soon at The Shoppes at Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka (joining neighbors like Publix and Tropical Smoothie Cafe) and adds fresh energy to the U.S. 231 business corridor. Elmore Autauga News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery Emergency Management Agency will open a warming center Sunday and Monday night as temperatures drop below freezing & residents are encouraged to use the facility for added safety. WSFA 12
- ➤ The Alabama Public Service Commission (PSC) announced a new 483 area code overlay for the 334 region serving Montgomery and surrounding areas. Ten-digit dialing will be required Jan. 23 with a permissive period until Feb. 23 (a measure to ensure more available numbers). Elmore Autauga News
