- ➤ Hundreds attended the inaugural Alabama Boys Foundation Fundraising Gala yesterday at the RSA Activity Center downtown, raising support for local elementary students' literacy and academic success — former football star Wallace Gilberry and President Gerald Williams outlined plans to expand into South Alabama. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A special screening of a documentary about Chris' Hot Dogs took place Sunday at the Capri Theatre in downtown Montgomery, drawing many local residents. Attendees joined a Q&A with figures including head manager Eleanor Williams and former co-owner Gus Katechis (directors plan to bring the film to streaming later). WAKA 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery Christian School is seeing growing interest as families learn about the CHOOSE Act education savings accounts (up to $7,000 per student) that help offset tuition costs. The school moved into a larger building to expand enrollment, and ESA applications opened Jan. 2 for the 2026-27 school year. Alabama Daily News

Critter Crawl 5K and Yeti Dash
2:30-5 p.m. — Alabama Nature Center — Registration fee applies — Participate in a fun-filled 5K race and Yeti Dash supporting local nature initiatives.

Viking 5K, 10K, & Half Marathon
2-6 p.m. — Blount Cultural Park — $30-$65 — Run through beautiful Montgomery and challenge yourself with a range of distances from a 5K to a Half Marathon.
