COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Saint James community held a ceremony on Saturday to honor student Carter Carroll, a senior and baseball player who died in a hunting accident in January 2024. The new batting facility and scholarship have been dedicated to his memory — hundreds attended as speakers shared their favorite memories.  WAKA 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Montgomery Symphony will debut a world premiere piece (A Time for Jubilee) honoring the 60th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March with a performance Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Davis Theater downtown; a pre-concert chat with composer Nkeiru Okoye is scheduled at 6:00 p.m.  WSFA 12
  • Millbrook hosted a Mardi Gras festival and parade last Saturday to celebrate community, support local groups, and keep traditions alive.  WSFA 12
  • Montgomery celebrated Mardi Gras as residents rolled through historic Old Cloverdale Saturday. Locals enjoyed parades + lively festivities that embraced community traditions.  WSFA 12

  • Alabama defeated Auburn 96-92 at Neville Arena on Feb. 7 as Sports Director Lindsey Bonner reviewed postgame remarks from coaches Steven Pearl and Nate Oats.  WAKA 8
