Hundreds of locals celebrated Mardi Gras on Saturday at Dexter Avenue and Court Square, enjoying live music, food from local vendors, arts and crafts for kids, and festive performances including stilt walkers, fire performers — all reflecting Montgomery's rich culture.

A senate bill would require schools to display a poster of the Ten Commandments alongside founding document quotes in grades five to 12 classrooms and common areas.

Sponsored by Sen. Keith Kelly (R-Anniston), school boards would not pay for the displays.

Critter Crawl 5K and Yeti Dash
