- ➤ Magic Moments surprised 8-year-old Christian Duncan, a cancer survivor, at his Chuck E. Cheese birthday party in Montgomery on Feb. 17—granting him and his family a week-long trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios; they plan to take the vacation next month. WAKA 8

- ➤ Stephen Dees joined Beasley Allen to focus on personal injury and products liability cases. He is active with the Alabama State Bar (serving on the Leadership Forum and the Bench and Bar Relations Task Force) and contributes to local charities and community groups while coaching youth sports. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rev. Jesse Jackson died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Alabama’s civil rights and political history. Dr. Howard Robinson of Alabama State University said Jackson’s breakthrough moments—including his 1983 address to the state legislature—inspired many new leaders. WSFA 12
- ➤ The Cloverdale Playhouse will stage 'American Son' (a play about a biracial couple confronting race issues after their son is detained following a traffic stop) starting February 19 and running through March 1. WAKA 8

- ➤ Alabama State University will host Montgomery.AI Summit — a free event — on March 5 at Abernathy Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., where students, educators, business, and civic leaders will discuss AI tools in education, workforce, and public service. Montgomery Chamber
- ➤ Faulkner University’s College of Health Sciences signed an agreement with York University in Nebraska on Feb. 10 & the deal gives eligible York students preference in three health science programs. The Montgomery Independent

- ➤ The Alabama Kidney Foundation will kick off its annual Kidney Walk & Celebration on Friday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the RSA Activity Center on Dexter Avenue, with honorary chairs Will & Kelly Wilson and Michael McCurry supporting the fundraiser ahead of a main walk on Saturday, May 2. WAKA 8
