- ➤ The 2026 SLE Rodeo will run from Friday, March 20 to Sunday, March 22 at Garrett Coliseum. WSFA 12
- ➤ Summerlane Counseling, which first opened in Selma, marks its 3rd anniversary with expanded services in Montgomery. The center has grown over the past three years & now serves more local residents. WSFA 12
- ➤ Camp Celebration returns to Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium, offering programs (designed to help children cope with loss) and community activities that provide local resources for families. The event brings a welcoming environment to a familiar venue. WSFA 12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Eastdale Baptist Church hosts the River Region Community Sing-Along on Friday, March 27 at 5 p.m. at 400 North Burbank Street — an event that will unite neighborhoods through shared praise and worship. WAKA 8
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Booker T. Washington Magnet High School 10th grader Carson French from Montgomery was honored by C-SPAN for his documentary, When Equality Ends at the Prison Gates, created to celebrate America’s 250th birthday — he earned an honorable mention and a $250 prize. WSFA 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Tuesday's meeting at the Montgomery County Commission, Mid-South RC&D announced a grant program offering local governments, schools, nonprofits, and fire departments between $5,000 and $25,000 for project reimbursements. The grant cycle runs from April 1 to June 30. WSFA 12
- ➤ Toby, a 2-year-old Dutch shepherd on the ALEA SWAT Team, will receive a bullet-proof vest donated by Vested Interest in K9s Inc. sponsored by Manitou Cliff Dwellings (Colorado), with the upgrade expected within 10 weeks. WSFA 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Alabama State University is hosting its Women in Blue Campaign event to inform community members about colon cancer prevention (the third leading cause of death among men and women). WSFA 12
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Old Cloverdale Village is an 11,000 sqft redevelopment in Montgomery’s historic Old Cloverdale District that will house Big Bad Breakfast and other local shops. Big Bad Breakfast will open by the end of March — as neighboring tenants prepare to offer unique dining and retail experiences. AL.com

- ➤ Tuskegee’s Reginald Ruffin was named the 2025-26 NACDA Athletics Director of the Year for his leadership in NCAA Division II sports — he will be honored at the 61st Annual NACDA Convention in Las Vegas on June 9. WSFA 12
