COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, WSFA 12 news and Meals on Wheels Montgomery (the local charity) are hosting a telethon to support food delivery for those in need. The event aims to boost community resources and outreach.  WSFA 12
  • Funeral arrangements have been made for the late Rev. Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr. (a noted civil rights leader) who passed away on March 5; details for the service will be released soon.  WSFA 12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Montgomery Small Business One Stop Shop hosted an 'AI, Actually Lunch & Learn' session on Tuesday to show AI can improve messaging and held a mixer on Wednesday. It will host a reception today (with Gov. Kay Ivey signing a proclamation for Women’s History Day) to honor Women’s History Month.  WSFA 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Forney Trailblazers Wagon Train will arrive in Montgomery this evening as part of a 10-day, 185-mile journey leading to the Southeastern Livestock Exposition Rodeo at Garrett Coliseum. The group, embodying a decades-old family tradition, will pause for lunch at Mulder Church around noon.  Elmore Autauga News
  • Montgomery native author Willie Moseley has released his new book, The Golden Age of Normandale, which explores the history of Normandale Shopping Center. The book offers a fresh look & key insights into a local landmark.  WSFA 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faulkner University and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama signed a three-year agreement to fund the PATH program, with HMMA contributing $200,000 per year to support simulation-based healthcare training. The partnership, which begins in January 2026, will enhance training for emergency responders and health professionals in the region.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Ivey ordered flags lowered to half-staff to honor three Birmingham airmen killed in an aircraft crash in western Iraq on March 12; donations are being collected for their families.  WSFA 12
  • City of Montgomery announced the 2026 Mayor's Internship Program that will select 30 students to gain hands-on experience in city government. The internship will offer practical learning opportunities starting later this year.  The Montgomery Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Montgomery Biscuits and OnDeck Partners announced that Riverwalk Stadium has been renamed DABOS Park, signaling a fresh start for the beloved ballpark. CEO David McNairy said the change shows a long-term commitment to boosting Montgomery’s commercial and cultural scene.  WSFA 12
