A Montgomery man was fatally shot on Thursday around 7:20 a.m. in the 700 block of Havelock Lane near North Burbank Drive — police say 23 year old Shaquille Davis died and no suspects are in custody.

Dr. Jeremy M. Carr, a chemistry instructor at Central Alabama Community College, represented the school at the American Chemical Society’s Blue Ribbon Panel in Washington, D.C., from February 21st to 23rd (the meeting discussed the possibility of extending accreditation recognition to two-year colleges).

State lawmakers approved a bipartisan bill on March 20 that gives state employees and teachers up to eight weeks maternity leave and two weeks paternity leave after a birth, stillbirth or miscarriage.

The Alabama Department of Public Health investigated after an unvaccinated child traveling through central Alabama tested positive for measles on March 9-10—officials said the child's contact with others was low risk.

They urged everyone to be up to date on their measles vaccinations.

Auburn beat Alabama State 83 to 63 on Thursday in the NCAA Tournament with Miles Kelly scoring 23 points and making seven three pointers while Johni Broome added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
