Hundreds gathered at Montgomery Whitewater yesterday for the 4th Annual 'Hootenanny' Float Race (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) where over 150 participants raced creatively decorated floats down the rapids.

Today, Montgomery Whitewater hosted its spring kickoff event where thrill seekers enjoyed a 5k race, live music, food and a competitive whitewater course race.

Dozens gathered on Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church (Hope Hull) to celebrate Estell Evans' 100th birthday with shared presents, stories and cake.

Evans credited her long life to strong faith and advised young people to follow Heavenly Father.

Runners and cyclists completed a historic 51-mile relay from Selma to Montgomery yesterday, finishing at the foot of the Alabama State Capitol along Dexter Avenue.

The annual event honored the civil rights legacy and drew 1,400 participants from over 40 states while boosting local tourism.
