ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An overturned 18-wheeler is causing major delays on I-85 southbound at Ann Street in Montgomery with one lane open and the exit blocked as officials work to learn more about the cause of the crash.  WSFA 12

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was charged with robbing several Montgomery businesses, police said—authorities are investigating charges linked to the robberies.  WSFA 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two alumni from Prattville Christian Academy Class of 2022 were selected for competitive internships at Mayo Clinic and NASA. Maddie Jeffery (a National Merit Finalist) will work as a research assistant in neuroimmunology while Austin Jeffery will join NASA’s Student Airborne Research Program for an eight-week internship in Virginia this summer.  Elmore Autauga News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall warns residents to hang up on phone calls that pressure them to send money or share personal details—scammers use fake tech support, lottery, cryptocurrency, toll, and jury duty schemes.  Elmore Autauga News
  • The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce withdrew its offer to host town halls for superintendent finalists after local officials said the search process was not transparent + they criticized the board’s handling of candidate selection. The board held a town hall for Dr. Harold Wright on Tuesday + it expects to announce its final decision between March 24 and April 8.  WSFA 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Monday, the Alabama Board of Nursing met to plan new incentives for nurse educators and revise community college nursing courses as nearly 39,000 nurses are expected to leave in the next four years—efforts that officials say will build a stronger pipeline of new nurses—amid a projected net loss of about 13,000 workers.  Alabama Daily News
  • National Physicians Week honors Montgomery doctors—celebrating their work in keeping communities healthy—and highlights the need for more health care workers.  WSFA 12
