CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Federal funding cuts from DOGE have forced the Alabama Humanities Alliance to suspend its grants program and pause its Road Scholars bookings that brought experts to local libraries and schools. - ➤ Pharmacists testified at a public hearing that low payments were forcing many independent pharmacies out of business, and the Alabama House Insurance Committee approved an amended Senate Bill 252 that requires pharmacy benefit managers to pay at least $10.64 per prescription — the same rate paid by Medicaid — while removing the two-year sunset and private right to sue provisions. This amendment, pushed by Sen. Billy Beasley, comes as local pharmacies struggle to maintain operations. Alabama Daily News
