- ➤ The Big Bounce America Tour is set to roll into Montgomery on April 12-13 at Crawford Arena Fields. The event will feature the world’s largest bounce house measuring 24,000 sq. ft.—along with a 900-foot obstacle course and a deep sea foam party. WAKA 8
- ➤ Local groups planted a pinwheel garden at 200 Monroe Street through April to raise awareness on child abuse and neglect. The Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention—together with the Children’s Trust Fund—hosted the event to support families and community programs. WAKA 8
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities arrested a 20-year-old man on capital murder charges for the late March death of Alabama State University student Gennia Grimes — his arrest was reported 36 minutes ago — as police continue investigating the case. WSFA 12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ WAKA Action 8 News took home three trophies at the 2025 ABBY Awards held Saturday night in Birmingham for its local coverage. Estee Morrison won the General Assignment award plus Multimedia Journalist Carrington Cole earned the Judges’ Award of Merit for a piece on a Montgomery teen robbery while Sports Anchor Julianna Reichenbach received an award for her report on the War Eagle Dive Club. - ➤ Faulkner University announced that actress Candace Cameron Bure, known for her role as D.J. Tanner on Full House, will speak at its Benefit Dinner to support student scholarships. Tickets go on sale May 5. AL.com

- ➤ The Alabama State Hornets ended spring camp Saturday with the Black and Gold Game and coach Eddie Robinson praised young players for making good plays despite a few penalties. The team will gear up to open their season against UAB on August 28. WAKA 8
