CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery police responded to a shooting call on May 2 at around 10:14 p.m. on the 900 block of West South Boulevard—near Davenport Drive just inside the I-65 bypass—and found a man who was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. WAKA 8
- ➤ Police identified 18-year-old Montgomery resident Jaydon Lewis as the victim fatally shot on West South Boulevard Thursday night at 10:14 p.m.+ he was taken to the hospital where medics pronounced him dead and authorities are investigating the shooting. AL.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Action 8's reporter Teresa Lawson was honored last night at the 52nd Annual Head Start Appreciation Banquet at the RSA Activity Center in Montgomery for her story on the Head Start program in Greenville—she was named Community Partner of the Year by the Lowndes County Board of Education. WAKA 8

- ➤ The Alabama Legislature gave final approval to House Bill 477, allowing the Alabama Farmers Federation to offer new health care plans for farmers and crop producers; the bill passed 32-2-2 on Thursday (including a 1.3% premium tax) and now goes to Governor Kay Ivey for review. - ➤ The Alabama Senate passed House Bill 199 by a 33-0 vote, narrowing the criteria for youth to be electronically monitored via ankle monitors—to include those charged with serious felonies or with three or more prior offenses—and the bill now moves to the House for a vote. Alabama Daily News
