CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery police launched a homicide investigation after an 18-year-old, Jaydon Lewis, was shot on the 900 block of West South Boulevard on May 3rd at about 10:14 PM — he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. WAKA 8
- ➤ A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning on the 1000 block of Eastern Boulevard (near Sam’s Club) and police said the vehicle fled before officers arrived. WAKA 8
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Alabama Forestry Commission warned forest landowners that brown spot needle blight—a fungal disease causing needle drop and discoloration—has begun affecting loblolly pines in west Alabama due to mild wet weather, following last year's southern pine beetle damage. Landowners are urged to inspect trees regularly and contact their local AFC office if damage worsens. WSFA 12
