- ➤ The National Association of Letter Carriers will host its annual 'Stamp Out Hunger' drive on Saturday, May 9 in Montgomery. Residents can leave non-perishable items in a sturdy bag near their mailbox for pick up, with Heart of Alabama Food Bank volunteers processing donations locally — check with your post office to confirm participation. - ➤ Montgomery Zoo will host the third annual ZooBrews on May 21 from 6-9 p.m. — guests can sample a range of craft beers, enjoy live music, food trucks and yard games, and must be 21+ with valid ID to attend. Montgomery Chamber

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hyundai hosted Montgomery Public School students at the Alabama Hydrogen Grand Prix on May 6, 2026 to race hydrogen-powered RC cars and learn engineering skills. Winning teams earn chances to compete in World Championships while nearly 1,000 sixth graders explore energy and motion in the AWIM curriculum. Montgomery Chamber
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Due to Wednesday’s rain, several high school baseball playoff games in different classes were rescheduled, and one (AISA) semifinal series was completed. The contests run May 6-9 at various local venues, with games set today and beyond. AL.com
- ➤ Alabama football canceled its 2028 game with Oklahoma State after the SEC reduced the schedule to nine games and will instead add a home game against Georgia State. The Tide will still face Ohio State in a home and home series, with the first game scheduled in Columbus in 2027. AL.com
- ➤ Jackson running back EJ Crowell (nicknamed Nail Head for his defensive impact) was named Mr. Football 2026 in Montgomery on Jan. 20 and signed with Alabama as a five-star prospect; coaches expect he will boost the Crimson Tide’s weak run game. AL.com
