- ➤ The 27th Kevin Turner Prattville YMCA Golf Tournament took place Monday with guest hosts former college quarterbacks Jeff Burger and Jake Coker—marking the first time representatives from Auburn and Alabama joined forces to support the Coach A Child Scholarship Fund Campaign in honor of Prattville native Kevin Turner who battled ALS. The event raised funds—helping keep YMCA services available to all—for a campaign that has supported thousands since its start in 1998. WSFA 12

- ➤ Gloria Crews was killed on Mother's Day 2024 in Montgomery — her case remains unsolved and family and friends say that the holiday has forever changed. WSFA 12
- ➤ Former officer Mac Marquette, charged with murder for fatally shooting Steve Perkins during a repossession in September 2023, is appealing a judge’s decision that rejected his stand your ground claim—his lawyers say he acted in self-defense when Perkins pointed his gun at him. - ➤ Montgomery police charged Hanna Bentley (24) with murder after she fatally shot Jovon Prince (45) on May 10 at around 6:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of Locust Street, and Bentley is now held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility. WAKA 8

- ➤ Alabama Policy Institute has urged Gov. Ivey to veto or amend House Bill 445, which was adopted last Wednesday and modified by the Senate to regulate consumable THC products and limit youth access. The bill sets dosage limits and restricts sales to specialty shops — measures aimed at curbing access by minors — and now awaits her review. Alabama Daily News
- ➤ The state's Office of Information Technology began investigating a cybersecurity event detected Friday evening and is working with a third party cybersecurity firm to secure affected systems + state employees were told to be cautious as some usernames and passwords were compromised + no personal information was taken. - ➤ Mayor Steven L. Reed and city officials opened Montgomery’s largest fire station—Fire Station 10—today at the corner of Court Street and Fairview Avenue to boost emergency response for Districts 4 and 7. The $19M facility features advanced firefighting equipment, expanded living quarters, and a Safe Haven Baby Box as part of the Montgomery Forward initiative to modernize local public services.
