- ➤ YMCA of Greater Montgomery celebrated its largest annual fundraising campaign after raising $1.5 million in two months and held a celebration last night in Millbrook for donors and volunteers — the funds will help support local children and families with YMCA programs. WAKA 8

- ➤ A Montgomery woman was killed in a crash in Pike County on May 10 at about 11:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 231 near Brundidge when 53-year-old Michelle Johnson’s car hit an 18-wheeler’s trailer—then was struck by a pickup truck and the driver was taken to a hospital. WAKA 8

- ➤ Montgomery police say a man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was shot and hit by a vehicle at Normandale shopping center on May 11 around 2:45 a.m. and he was taken to a hospital for treatment. WAKA 8

- ➤ The Equal Justice Initiative announced 37 Montgomery Public Schools seniors were awarded a $10,000 Legacy Scholarship based on essays about visits to the Freedom Monument Sculpture Park or community efforts—more than 200 family members, teachers and community members gathered at Legacy Hall on May 13 to celebrate the winners. - ➤ The Alabama Legislature holds its contentious final day of session today as lawmakers work to pass controversial bills, including the governor’s top priority police immunity measure HB 202—designed to offer legal protections for law enforcement—and hundreds of local bills.
