COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery locals have a busy week—Gov. Ivey signed two Safe Alabama public safety bills Thursday after lawmakers adjourned Wednesday and the historic Riverfront Park will host the Red Bluff Music, Arts & Food Festival starting Friday. In other news, the Alabama Virtual Academy held a 266-student graduation Thursday, overdose deaths decreased over the year and area restaurants are urged to improve their cleanliness. WSFA 12
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery police charged a juvenile male with capital murder in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Da’Quan Blakely on May 8 near the 5700 block of Atlanta Highway—he is now held in the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility. WAKA 8
- ➤ A Montgomery man, 38-year-old Lorenzo Anterrio Monta, was sentenced to 15 years in prison—plus 3 years of supervised release—for firing a gun during last year's high-speed chase near Eastdale Road and Atlanta Highway, where officers later arrested him for being a felon in possession of a firearm. - ➤ Montgomery police charged My’Qurious Solomon (21) with murder and attempted murder after a fatal shooting on April 17 at about 8:39 p.m. at the 3200 block of Brookwood Drive (near Woodley Road) where 21-year-old Jaquan Lewis died. WAKA 8
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Red Bluff Music—Arts and Food Festival is underway at historic Riverfront Park where local performers share music, art and food. It kicked off last Friday and will continue through the weekend. WSFA 12

- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey signed the remaining bills in the 'Safe Alabama' public safety package into law on Thursday — finalizing the package. WSFA 12
