EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Math Academy returns this summer to help rising 7th-10th graders improve their math skills through hands-on STEM activities at Better Covenant Ministries on 4050 Fairground Road near the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum; the free, one-week camp runs from June 2-6 daily from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and provides lunch. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kay Ivey signed the Back the Blue law on May 16th—this law increases legal protections for law enforcement amid ongoing debates over its impact, and state officials said it aims to support police work. WSFA 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At the Montgomery Biscuits game, the Alabama Department of Mental Health partnered with event organizers during Strike Out Stigma Night to show caregivers and those living with mental health challenges they are not alone. The event shared recovery stories and promoted the free Connect app — a tool to find local mental health and addiction support — to help people access resources. WSFA 12
