BUSINESS NEWS

  • Crunch Fitness will soon open a new gym in the former Renfroe’s Market space on EastChase Parkway. The building — built as Bruno’s in the early 2000s — closed earlier this year to make way for the expansion that will join the chain’s Eastern Boulevard location.  WAKA 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faulkner University will launch three new engineering programs — mechanical, software and electrical — this fall at its Montgomery campus to offer hands-on learning with small classes and focused mentorship. Interested students may contact Admissions for details.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday, bus riders led by Keith Odom retraced historic civil rights march routes to Montgomery while rallying against recent weakening of the Voting Rights Act. Organized by Fair Fight Action (an initiative linked to Stacey Abrams), the event recalled past struggles and renewed calls for fair representation.  Alabama Daily News

  • Auburn baseball ended their season Saturday at Plainsman Park when they beat Georgia 14-4 in eight innings. The Tigers earned the No. 6 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play the winner of Oklahoma and LSU on Wednesday.  WSFA 12
