COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Montgomery Humane Society featured its Pets of the Week on May 19 — Milo, a 2-year-old black domestic shorthair cat who loves to lounge, and Bailee, a 1-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix dog who loves toys and treats — and both are available for adoption at the society front desk.  WAKA 8

CRIME NEWS

  • A Montgomery man—Rubin Mack—pleaded guilty to multiple felonies including domestic violence, kidnapping, and attempted assault for crimes committed between 2019 and 2023 and was sentenced to life in prison before jury selection began.  WSFA 12
  • Police said two people died after a domestic-related shooting Monday on Festival Drive in Prattville.  WSFA 12
  • Montgomery police responded to a shooting on Sunday at 3 a.m. on Royal Carriage Drive and found a woman fatally shot — her name and age have not yet been released.  WSFA 12
  • A homicide investigation is underway after 26-year-old Ki’era Campbell was killed early Sunday at around 3 a.m. on Royal Carriage Drive in Montgomery—police confirmed the response to the scene.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The legislature approved a bill to expand Pine Level passes in the final hours of the session, and the measure will give a town founded less than two years ago with an annual budget of about $230,000 a new permanent revenue source—an important step for its future.  WSFA 12
  • Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed received the 2025 D3 Leadership in Diversity Award at the Defend Democracy, Demand Diversity, Defeat Poverty (D3) Leadership Breakfast in Washington, D.C. today and was honored for his work to boost equity and support underserved communities.  Montgomery Chamber
