  • River Region United Way cut the ribbon on its new building on South Perry Street in downtown Montgomery Tuesday. The organization funds dozens of nonprofits in the area.  WSFA 12

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Plant marked 20 years by showing change since 2005—team members Jeffery Granville and Mark Wyatt shared how production times shortened and the workforce grew. The plant reduced car build times from 15 hours to 8 hours—now it makes up to 1,600 cars a day.  WAKA 8

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in a Montgomery shooting incident — authorities are investigating the case.  WSFA 12
  • ADOC said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday that 38-year-old Stephen Murphy left his assigned job in Hope Hull while in custody on a robbery charge from Morgan County, and he is described (6’0” and 180 lbs with multiple tattoos, wearing white pants, a black and gray shirt, and red and black shoes) as at large.  WAKA 8
  • Montgomery police charged 19-year-old Lepedro Grant with two counts of capital murder after a fatal shooting on the 3300 block of Royal Carriage Drive early Sunday that left 26-year-old Ki’era Campbell dead (Grant is now held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility).  WAKA 8

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Autaugaville held its last graduation ceremony— marking the end of the school— as 14 students graduated before enrollment, academic performance, and finances declined, forcing the closure.  WSFA 12
