- ➤ Members of American Legion Post 122 and VFW Post 1349 gathered Monday in Prattville for a Memorial Day observance that featured wreath laying and taps to honor service members who sacrificed their lives for freedom. Courthouse flags were flown at half-staff during the ceremony. WAKA 8
- ➤ More than 300 community members gathered in Woodland Creek yesterday for the Memorial Day 5K, completing a 3.1-mile course to honor fallen service members and raise funds for River Region Trails to expand local greenways. WAKA 8

- ➤ Greenwood Cemetery held a Memorial Day ceremony yesterday to honor Vietnam Veterans. Community members gathered to remember the sacrifices of those who served. WSFA 12

- ➤ Montgomery teacher Laquanna Spriggs of Johnnie Carr Middle School uses end-of-year projects to tie local history to environmental studies + she encourages students to read over the summer to stay sharp for the next school year. WSFA 12

- ➤ Springfield Missionary Baptist Church is hosting its third annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Deatsville Highway in Millbrook, offering free blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and dental screenings + free snacks and family activities.
