  • Tuskegee received a $400,000 Community Development Block Grant from HUD to expand water+sewer lines for CPT America's 350,000 sqft automotive supplier plant at Tuskegee Commerce Park, expected to add 187 jobs; Gov. Kay Ivey announced the grant on Tuesday, May 26.  WAKA 8

  • Eastmont Baptist Church will host its Backyard Blast Vacation Bible School (June 1–4) with registration now open. The event will offer fun Bible lessons and activities for local children.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents voiced their concerns about the proposed $1.5 billion data center in Lowndes County by presenting a petition with over 1,000 signatures at a Tuesday county commission meeting. Developers will host a community open house on June 3 to answer questions and share more details.  WSFA 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners warned physicians today not to prescribe non-FDA-approved peptides as social media trends boost public interest (these research-grade peptides are not approved for human use). The board emphasized that all prescription drugs must come from licensed sources and meet FDA quality standards.  WSFA 12
  • Tuesday kicked off the 100 Deadliest Days of summer when teen drivers face a 20% higher risk of fatal crashes due to distractions+inexperience, and the National Road Safety Foundation offers tips to help keep Montgomery teens safe on the road.  WSFA 12
