ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Montgomery County driver struck an 8‐foot alligator early Monday morning at about 3:20 a.m. on Wares Ferry Road near Interstate 85— the driver sustained only minor injuries, the vehicle was towed, and the alligator died in the collision.  AL.com

CRIME NEWS

  • Montgomery police increased charges against 31-year-old Daniel Vincent — who was originally charged with attempted murder — after 37-year-old Jessica Money died on May 23 following her shooting on the 6300 block of Xenia Street on May 18.  WAKA 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • Dean Argo, who covered politics at WSFA 12 News in the 1980s, recalls his years on air as the station celebrates 70 years in service—sharing insights on his career and the station’s local impact.  WSFA 12

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Alabama public school students will learn the success sequence, a three-part plan recommending a high school diploma, full-time work, and delaying parenthood until marriage to help avoid poverty. Gov. Kay Ivey signed the law earlier this month, and the state board of education will create curriculum standards that local schools will adopt starting in the 2026-27 school year.  Alabama Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Ivey issued a commendation to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama on May 20 for its 20th anniversary, praising the plant for creating over 4,000 jobs and boosting Montgomery's economy. The facility has produced millions of vehicles and builds models such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Genesis GV70 that support the state's automotive industry.  Montgomery Chamber
  • Sen. Tommy Tuberville is expected to announce his 2026 candidacy for governor today—following a Fox News interview he may hold an in-person event Wednesday or Thursday. Lt. Gov.
