- ➤ Two men died in a crash at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Hopper Street around 2:45 a.m. Sunday as police identified Martiniano Lopez (55) as the driver and Rigoberto Acagua (23) as the passenger. WSFA 12
- ➤ Police investigated an early morning shooting that killed a man in Montgomery on June 2 — officials have not released further details yet. WSFA 12
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On June 2, the Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association launched its Black Belt Road Trip Photo Contest asking locals to upload photos that include a person and capture attractions in the region's 23 counties (selfies and family images are accepted). The contest runs until Aug. 15 and will award a $100 gift card for first-place, a $50 gift card for second, and a themed gift basket for third. Elmore Autauga News

- ➤ Montgomery Fire Chief Miford Jordan announced that he will retire on August 1 after a 40-year career that includes over 18 years as chief.
