  • Shea Robinson is hosting 'The Outpouring,' a free citywide event of prayer, worship, art and unity on June 8 at Riverfront Amphitheater. Montgomery Humane Society features pet Begonia ready for adoption — while WSFA airs Jordan Halloran from Max Wealth Management answering financial questions.  WSFA 12

CRIME NEWS

  • The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office warned residents about a phone scam that used spoofed official numbers and real law enforcement names to falsely claim fines, missed jury duty or arrest warrants—officials advised hanging up and reporting such calls.  WAKA 8
  • Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed Monday morning in Montgomery — no further details were released.  WSFA 12

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Montgomery is preparing for a busy summer after being one of the top 5 visited counties in 2024 when 29 million visitors came to Alabama's attractions. Local officials say the tourism boost reached $1.5 billion last year & more hotel rooms will be added to meet the rising demand.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At his monthly press conference Monday, Mayor Steven Reed addressed the controversy over the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts board—he said the museum’s future plans are under review.  WSFA 12
  • Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said at Monday's press conference that the museum board is illegal because its joint operation with a museum association violates Section 94 of the Alabama Constitution as revealed by a recent lawsuit—city officials now are considering proposals for either a joint board or a 15-member board to ensure proper oversight.  WSFA 12

HEALTH NEWS

  • A free health clinic from Remote Area Medical will roll into Montgomery from June 7-8 at the Cramton Bowl parking lot on Hall Street to offer dental cleanings, dental procedures, eye exams with on-site eyeglasses, general medical exams and rapid HIV and syphilis testing—patients can receive care without insurance or ID on a first-come, first-served basis.  AL.com
