EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Congress is considering a bill that would lower the maximum Pell Grant from $7,395 to $5,710 for the 2026-27 school year—students must also enroll in at least 15 credit hours, which could reduce aid for thousands of Alabama college students. - ➤ The Montgomery City Council voted Tuesday to stop issuing new permits for package stores, gas stations, convenience stores, and vape shops for 90 days while the city reviews its permitting process—some council members argued that delaying permits in progress could hurt local business, but the measure passed after brief debate. 1819 News
