  • WSFA 12 News is hosting the Summer Fund a Food Drive at Renfroe’s Market on Eastchase Parkway to benefit the Heart of Alabama Food Bank—volunteers and familiar faces will collect food and money donations while the market runs a 'buy an item and donate the other' special offer on the day of the drive.  WSFA 12

  • Families remember loved ones at a memorial outside Tienda Los Hermanos — the tribute honors the three lives taken in the grocery store one year ago.  WSFA 12
  • Two families in Montgomery are remembering Romero Lopez, his son Daniel, and friend George Elijah Jr.—killed in a grocery store shooting on Troy Highway a year ago—with suspects still in jail and no trial date set.  WSFA 12

  • The Montgomery City Council voted Tuesday to stop issuing new permits for package stores, gas stations, convenience stores, and vape shops for 90 days while the city reviews its permitting process—some council members argued that delaying permits in progress could hurt local business, but the measure passed after brief debate.  1819 News
  • Montgomery’s longtime fire chief, Miford Jordan, is retiring after nearly 40 years of service and will start a new chapter on July 31—he plans to continue serving the community through volunteer work and reflects on a career marked by high department performance.  WSFA 12

  • The City of Montgomery and the Montgomery Biscuits signed a 15-year lease renewal that will keep the team in the Capital City until 2040—ensuring the historic Riverwalk Stadium remains a key baseball venue.  WAKA 8
