- ➤ Today the Montgomery Zoo hosts Military Appreciation Day and military members and their families receive free full-access admission to the Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum. The event offers complimentary lunch, refreshments, and a free train ride—organized by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs team. WSFA 12
- ➤ Montgomery Whitewater Park has partnered with the Alabama Power Foundation and the YMCA of Greater Montgomery to offer half-day outdoor adventure camps for 200 local youth aged 8 to 15 in June and July. The camps will include team challenges, scavenger hunts, zipline courses, whitewater rafting and STEM lessons—giving young participants a chance to learn outdoor skills. Montgomery Chamber

- ➤ Lilly Dean from Evolve Studio for the Arts was named the top overall senior elite soloist at the Platinum National Dance Competition in Panama City Beach this past weekend. Her routine—choreographed by Angel Mammoliti—earned a perfect 300 score and ranked highest among 960 dances. Elmore Autauga News
- ➤ The Rosa Parks Museum will host its annual Juneteenth event on Saturday, June 14th — local residents are invited to learn and celebrate the history and meaning of Juneteenth. WSFA 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Alabama Attorney General’s Office said a new law makes it illegal to sell or have smokable hemp products from July 1 and this offense becomes a Class C felony; licensed retailers must meet labeling rules by Jan. 1, 2026—this law does not legalize marijuana but sets strict standards for hemp products. - ➤ A federal judge today dismissed former police chief Ernest Finley’s 2021 lawsuit against the City and Mayor Steven Reed — ruling that Finley quit on his own — and found no proof that his resignation was due to racism, retaliation, or a conspiracy. The decision reaffirms that city procedures were followed and that legal protocols were respected. WSFA 12
