Rob Renfroe, owner of Renfroe's Market, is urging Montgomery residents to join the Summer Fund and Food Drive by donating to the local food bank.
Local credit unions are also supporting the drive to help those in need.
Multiple groups are boosting today's 2026 Summer Fund and Food Drive as Paul Outreach Services, Max Credit Union, ASE Credit Union & Valley Bank donate funds to support local families and the Heart of Alabama Food Bank's fight against hunger.
Dixie Electric donated a check to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank in the 2026 Summer Fund and Food Drive today (communications manager Terri Faulkner confirmed the contribution), adding to community efforts to support local residents.
🎓 Education
Alabama teacher prep programs have been reviewed by the National Council on Teacher Quality, with 18 of 20 earning an A or A-plus for teaching the science of reading.
Five programs from public universities did not provide enough data for review (data from several schools was incomplete).
Today, River Region STEAM Camp students toured the DAS North America manufacturing facility to learn about high-quality seat track systems and teamwork.
The visit gave students a firsthand look at future career opportunities in manufacturing.
