COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Montgomery Zoo starts building a new entrance today and new renderings show a sleek-modern design with a shaded plaza, gift shop, and nursing room. The zoo will remain open with a temporary entrance at the Mann Museum while construction takes about one year. WSFA 12
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Millbrook police arrested two Montgomery women after a chase that began with a traffic stop and ended in a crash Friday—one woman is charged with felony attempting to elude and reckless endangerment while the other is charged with attempting to elude—and both are held in jail. WSFA 12
- ➤ Two women were shot early Sunday morning on the 2800 block of East South Boulevard in Montgomery—one was pronounced dead at a local hospital as police continue to investigate the incident. WSFA 12
- ➤ On Friday June 13, 2025, Millbrook police arrested two Montgomery residents after a high-speed chase began when an officer attempted to stop a vehicle at the intersection of Alabama Highway 143 & Alabama River Parkway and ended when the driver crashed her 2022 Nissan sedan into a power pole while her passenger fled on foot before being caught. - ➤ Mayor Reed and the Black Economic Alliance Foundation hosted the Architects of Change Salon Friday to discuss ways to boost work, wages, and wealth in the black community. Local leaders shared plans to invest in affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods for stronger growth in Montgomery. WSFA 12
