- ➤ After a 464-day wait, Nick the dog left a Montgomery shelter for a foster home after many locals showed interest on social media— the shelter said his departure brings bittersweet feelings as they long celebrated his move. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters battled a fire on Eliza Place in Montgomery Wednesday night — officials report no one was injured. WSFA 12
- ➤ Ariton man (53-year-old Jason Ketcham) died when his tractor-trailer overturned around 11:54 a.m. Wednesday on Bullock County 27 near Troy as he was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, where his injuries proved fatal. WAKA 8

- ➤ United for ALICE, an initiative by United Ways of Alabama launched this year, is showing how many working families in our area struggle to pay for basic needs & rising costs leave wages lagging. The study found nearly half of households face tough choices between essentials like utilities, food, or car repairs. WSFA 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Central Alabama Community Foundation awarded over $130,000 in education grants to local nonprofits at an event on June 26 at the Wetumpka Impact Crater Discovery and Visitors Center. - ➤ Montgomery resident Bonita Cook, battling lung disease and told she has 12 months left, had her dying wish granted by the Dream Foundation—she received concert tickets, a free hotel stay and other gifts that will let her see Luke Bryan live in Birmingham this July.
