- ➤ Officials say the new 7 Brew Coffee at 7915 Vaughn Road in East Montgomery will open on July 21 to serve drive-thru coffee and other drinks. The store is part of a national chain that first opened in Rogers, Arkansas in 2017 and now operates over 300 locations. WAKA 8
- ➤ Montgomery Whitewater Park introduced a new menu at Eddy’s yesterday, led by executive chef Stephanie Jefferson who added burgers, wraps, salads, and a dog menu. - ➤ On Sunday morning, after a high-speed police chase from Prattville to Montgomery, law enforcement fatally shot 27-year-old Jacob B. Hutchinson—who fled on his motorcycle and on foot and reportedly pulled a knife as officers pursued him—and an investigation is underway by state authorities. WSFA 12
- ➤ After deadly violence rocked the community on Saturday, July 12, Montgomery police held a press conference in which Chief Jim Graboys said they will go after and hold responsible anyone who commits violence—ensuring public safety remains a top priority. WSFA 12
- ➤ Federal search warrants were executed across Alabama as part of an ongoing investigation into federal crimes, with arrests reported in Robertsdale, Opelika, and Prattville — authorities stated that there was no threat to public safety. WSFA 12

- ➤ The annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday gives shoppers a chance to save on school supplies, clothing, shoes, and computers up to $750 without the 4% state sales tax this weekend—local towns might also choose to forgo their own sales tax on these items. - ➤ Montgomery Public Schools is offering a limited number of free uniforms to eligible families for the 2025-26 school year. On Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22, eligible families can visit the MPS Leadership Center (720 Grove Street, Building B) during two time slots (8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.) to apply in person and receive up to two uniforms per enrolled student. - ➤ The Town of Pike Road cut the ribbon on six new tennis courts Monday at a racquet complex next to Cottonwood Golf Club on Byron Nelson Boulevard. The courts, open to the public and used by school teams, are part of the ONWARD capital improvement project—which will add an FFA barn, batting cages and a cross country training facility—to boost local facilities.
