- ➤ A man was critically injured by a gunshot wound in a Montgomery shooting early Sunday morning on the 3200 block of Meadow Lane — police responded at about 1:40 a.m., took him to a nearby hospital and the investigation continues. WSFA 12
- ➤ Montgomery police investigated a shooting that left a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound at about 1:40 a.m. on July 20 in the 3200 block of Meadow Lane near Woodley Road—he was taken to a hospital for treatment. WAKA 8
- ➤ Police said they responded to a hospital call at about 12:30 p.m. on July 20 after a woman was shot on West South Boulevard in the 1100 block just west of I-65 (she was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound) and the investigation is ongoing (no further details have been released). - ➤ The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts named Alice Novak as interim director after it had been without a director for two and a half years — Board President Bill Ford said her 20 years of experience will help the museum as it searches for a permanent leader within six months. WAKA 8

- ➤ A popular rumor has suggested that seniors aged 70 and older will soon need eye exams, road tests, and cognitive screenings each year starting in August — but federal and state officials confirm no national law mandates such tests. Alabama drivers remain unaffected as only state authorities set license renewal rules — and Alabama does not require routine vision tests. AL.com
- ➤ Governor Kay Ivey announced on July 14 that Vaquito, a work zone safety dog (trained by Guide Dogs of America), was sworn in as an honorary trooper at the state capitol.
