Yesterday, ground was broken for Montgomery’s first community organic urban farm and market—co-founded by sisters Erica and Erin Washington to honor their great-grandparents' legacy.

The project will grow produce using five green spaces in West Montgomery and a 10-acre farm outside the city and is set to open this fall.

Firefighters from Montgomery Fire/Rescue responded at around 1:41 a.m. Monday to a blaze at a storage building on the 2500 block of Poplar Street — the fire spread to an adjacent structure and investigators are looking into the cause while no one was injured.
