- ➤ Montgomery police launched a homicide investigation after Desanco Smith, aged 28, who was shot at 1:40 a.m. on July 20 on the 3200 block of Meadow Lane near Woodley Road, died from his injuries. WAKA 8

- ➤ Montgomery Public Schools now require all students to register online through PowerSchool for full enrollment in the 2025–2026 school year. Parents must complete registration by July 30 to access class schedules, issued devices and transportation updates—on-site help is available at the MPACT Center at 2901 East South Blvd until July 25.
