COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Montgomery officials hosted a Community Over Violence Expo that provided over a dozen community resources to help residents stay informed — local leaders aimed to connect community members with essential services.  WSFA 12
  • Parents and students attended a Back to School Bash near Publix in Pike Road on Saturday. The event featured a Touch-A-Truck showcase for backpack name tag design — live music and treats were also offered.  WAKA 8

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded yesterday at 3:23 p.m. to a fire at the Key West Inn (a two-story hotel on the 4100 block of Troy Highway) where they put out flames from the second floor and reported no injuries (cause still under investigation).  WAKA 8

CRIME NEWS

  • A Montgomery police officer was injured Friday night at 11:00 p.m. during a domestic call in the 1300 block of Finley Avenue near Carter Hill Road and South Union Street—he was treated at a local hospital and released while a male suspect was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree assault.  WAKA 8
  • A Montgomery officer was injured Friday when MPD responded to a domestic disturbance, and an unidentified man was taken to jail.  WSFA 12
