A man was hospitalized in critical condition after a Wednesday morning shooting—Montgomery Police responded at about 1:20 a.m. on the 5100 block of Carmichael Road, and the suspect or motive remains unknown.

Jackie Bushman, founder of the 30th annual Bucksmasters Expo, spoke on WSFA about the upcoming downtown Montgomery event that will take place from August 15th—16th.
🎓 Education
Students began the new school year at Macon East Academy in Cecil and at The Montgomery Academy yesterday.
Teachers, cheerleaders and parents welcomed the students with photo sessions and kind remarks that set a positive tone for the year.

On Tuesday, the City of Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa City Schools, and Mountain Brook filed a lawsuit in Montgomery Circuit Court challenging Alabama’s Simplified Sellers Use Tax, arguing that merchants with physical stores should pay the same sales taxes on online purchases as in-store. The suit seeks to reform a system that sends millions away each year—forcing revenue from local communities.
🏈 Sports
Wetumpka graduate Ty Brooks made strong strides at South Alabama as a sophomore by starting 42 of 46 games, posting a .945 FLD% and recording a season-high 3-RBI game against Ole Miss.
He said he will improve his play as a junior at the Jaguars, who finished the season 23-28.
