- ➤ Montgomery County Sheriff office will host a children's charity golf classic on September 18 — raising funds for the Alabama Sheriff Youth Ranch. WSFA 12

- ➤ At its Aug. 13th meeting in Montgomery, the Alabama Community College System board approved millions in funds for campus upgrades and new equipment at several colleges—also announcing a statewide partnership with meteorologist James Spann to share weather and education updates. The board celebrated a 7% enrollment jump and named a new president at Wallace Community College Selma. Alabama Daily News

- ➤ A federal judge declined to block an Alabama law that bans public schools from funding diversity, equity and inclusion programs and from teaching divisive concepts (which took effect on Oct. 1) because the plaintiffs did not meet the legal burden for a preliminary injunction. University of Alabama faculty and students continue a lawsuit saying the law restricts academic freedom and unfairly affects Black students. Alabama Daily News
