EDUCATION NEWS

  • 15-year-old Thunder Harding graduated from Bellevue University with a degree in software development—making him the 10th Harding child to complete college before turning 18. His family credits their homeschool system for the success, and Thunder plans to join the Army in keeping with a long family tradition.  WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is urging local residents to use a sober designated driver and buckle up as they prepare for busy roads and waterways this Labor Day weekend—maintaining safe distances and planning ahead to avoid tailgating and other risks.  WSFA 12
  • Capitol Journal covered a busy week in the State House as legislative budget hearings offered insight into the state’s fiscal condition and provided an update on the new building.   • Fans gathered for tailgating ahead of the annual Red Tails Classic, a football game that honors the Tuskegee Airmen from WWII—who broke barriers—and celebrates the spirit of HBCUs. Tuskegee University and Winston-Salem State University will compete tonight as families and fans come together to enjoy the event.  WSFA 12
