CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday, September 1, a juvenile male sustained life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound in a car accident at the intersection of April Street and Bowman Street when fire medics arrived (1:57 a.m.) and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.  WAKA 8
  • Early Saturday morning, police found a victim shot dead at about 2:16 a.m. on the 3500 block of Carter Hill Road—details such as the victim’s identity remain unreleased as the investigation continues.  WSFA 12

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama star receiver Ryan Williams suffered a concussion in the second half of a game against Florida State on Saturday—he had five catches for 30 yards. Alabama will host Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 6 and Wisconsin on Sept. 13 before opening its SEC schedule at Georgia on Sept. 27.  WSFA 12
  • The Tuskegee Golden Tigers won their season opener—20 to 17—as they rallied late to hold off Winston-Salem State, and they will host Central State next Saturday to chase a second win.  WSFA 12
  • Fans in town tailgated early ahead of the annual Red Tails Classic as they prepared to watch the football game and honor the historic Tuskegee Airmen.  WSFA 12
