- ➤ The Equal Justice Initiative concert with Branford Marsalis and Yo-Yo Ma is sold out for the October 11 event at the Peace and Justice Memorial Center on Caroline Street, but the ticket office said fans can check back on October 1 for extra tickets—giving hopeful ones a second chance to attend. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter filed a lawsuit against the AHSAA after it ruled that CHOOSE Act funds count as financial aid—making student athletes ineligible to play varsity sports for a year when they transfer schools. Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth said he will pursue legislation to change the rule, a move critics say ignores legislative intent. Alabama Daily News
- ➤ Three Alabamians nominated for federal judge posts testified at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday to explain why they are fit for the bench.
