ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Montgomery Fire/Rescue said a 56-year-old man died in a house fire on the 300 block of Bowling Green Drive near Eastmont Baptist Church at about 10:30 last night—investigators are now looking into the cause.  WAKA 8

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Mental Health and state partners are sharing suicide prevention tips for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month to help Alabamians spot signs like isolation, hopelessness, and unusual behavior—making it easier for loved ones to step in and seek help. They advise that anyone in need call 988 for immediate crisis support.  WSFA 12

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama State's Hornets beat Southern 30 to 7 on Saturday in Baton Rouge as quarterback Andrew Body threw two touchdowns while the defense forced four turnovers—yielding 17 points from opponents' mistakes. The Hornets led the game early and will host Miles College next Saturday at ASU Stadium.  WAKA 8
  • The Montgomery Academy volleyball team finished second at the Mayor’s Cup tournament (held at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl on Saturday). The team beat Montgomery Catholic in the semifinals but lost to Briarwood in the championship match.  WAKA 8
