- ➤ The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama launched a new Experience Center on Bell Road that will offer interactive programs addressing cyberbullying, mental health, and academic challenges among girls—serving as a hub for creativity and leadership as it prepares to introduce the new Exploremores cookie this upcoming season. - ➤ A longtime Montgomery pastor, Rev. Thomas Earl Jordan passed away Tuesday at age 80 after serving 56 years as pastor of Lilly Baptist Church on Hill Street. He began leading the congregation in 1969. WAKA 8
- ➤ WSFA’s Hometown Tours is stopping at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College today — offering a new format that will engage local viewers. WSFA 12

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery City Council approved a record $353.2 million budget for fiscal year 2026 and rejected a 10% firefighter raise, while failing to pass an ordinance that required council approval for contracts over $50,000—giving the mayor more contract approval power. Some council members and firefighters expressed concern over leftover funds and oversight as additional security and communication upgrades were planned. WAKA 8
- ➤ Montgomery Probate Judge JC Love joined WSFA today to speak on the importance of voter registration for National Voter Registration Day—his remarks reminded eligible residents to register as required. WSFA 12
- ➤ Montgomery County Commission passed its 2026 budget worth over $156 million—securing funds for county projects and operations. The decision will support services as the county plans for the coming year. WSFA 12
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Alabama and other states can now apply for part of the $50 billion health fund—set up by the GOP-led budget law—to support rural hospitals. Each state will get at least $500 million over five years if an approved application is submitted before Nov 5. Alabama Daily News
