COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Joey's Car Wash in Prattville is hosting a Haunted Car Wash Tunnel that offers a spooky car cleaning experience for Halloween. The event is happening now—welcoming families looking for a safe, festive outing. WSFA 12
- ➤ Federal SNAP funds are expected to run out soon—over 750,000 Alabamians risk severe food insecurity while local food banks amp up efforts and ask the community to donate money and canned goods. The Heart of Alabama Food Bank warned that if benefits remain suspended after November 1, a worsening food shortage will follow. WSFA 12
- ➤ River Region Church of the Nazarene will open a clothing closet for the needy on November 1st — it will operate on first Saturdays to serve local community members. WSFA 12
- ➤ The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery inducted its 2025-2026 Board of Directors today. The volunteer group, known for serving children, will continue its community work locally. The Montgomery Independent

- ➤ On November 1st, The Court Appointed Special Advocates of the River Region will host the Casa Superhero 5k and Fun Run — a superhero-themed event open to local residents. WSFA 12
- ➤ Hundreds attended Taylor Road Treats the Town—an annual fall festival hosted by Taylor Road Baptist Church in East Montgomery that featured candy, games, food and Bible Storyland displays of key biblical events. The free event welcomed people of all ages. WAKA 8

- ➤ Winn-Dixie stores in Montgomery and Wetumpka will become Piggly Wiggly Food For Less locations as the company pulls out of Alabama to focus on its Florida operations—Winn-Dixie plans to sell all of its remaining stores in the region by early next year. WAKA 8
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton said Jackson Hospital is getting $10 million from the county and may receive an extra $25 million from the city council if state and federal partners join to cover over $100 million in repair costs—officials plan to meet on November 5 to discuss next steps.
