  • Jesmelia Reid’s husband was caught in Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica three days ago, which destroyed almost everything in their home—leaving only the kitchen standing. The newlywed couple has started a GoFundMe campaign to rebuild their life and help family still displaced by the storm.  WSFA 12

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Town of Pike Road held its 59th annual Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday — hundreds browsed over 180 booths with handmade goods, sampled local food, and enjoyed yard games and a petting zoo while Santa and Mrs. Claus made a surprise visit.  WAKA 8

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said SNAP food aid may resume as early as Wednesday if the courts clear the way—federal funds ran out during the shutdown, pausing the program that helps 750,000 people in Alabama. The restart will depend on a legal review and the use of $6 billion in contingency funds.  AL.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama had a bye week and stayed at No. 4 in the AP Top 25 College Football Poll, with the other top seven teams keeping their spots. The poll also showed Ohio State at No. 1 while wins helped some Big 12 teams move into the top 10.  WAKA 8
  • Auburn fired head coach Hugh Freeze after the team’s fifth SEC loss — defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin served as interim coach until a new head coach was selected.  WSFA 12
