- ➤ The City of Montgomery and community partners announced a weeklong commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, honoring the movement’s courage and unity. - ➤ On October 29th, the EmPOWERHer event in partnership with Trenholm State Community College gave local high school girls a look at modern manufacturing where plants are bright and clean. - ➤ Montgomery Zoo will host its Dino Dig Education Program on November 15 for children ages 4–10 to learn about paleontology through fossil excavation. The event will offer hands-on activities—allowing young explorers to experience science firsthand. The Montgomery Independent

- ➤ Montgomery and community partners announced a weeklong commemoration for the 70th anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, running from November 29 to December 6 and honoring Rosa Parks and those who fought for justice. - ➤ Montgomery plans Veterans Day events with a new banner program to honor local heroes year-round — the program lets families buy banners showing veterans’ photo, name, rank, service years and branch, and the official website will launch November 10. The city will host a parade on Dexter Avenue at 10 a.m. and a Resource Fair and ceremony at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday, November 11. WAKA 8

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Jackson Hospital announced a new three-member Board of Trustees on October 31 and named John Quinlivan as chief executive officer effective November 3 to lead the hospital through its Chapter 11 reorganization. The board and Quinlivan will work together to improve operations and secure funding (including a $25 million DIP loan) to keep serving Montgomery residents. Montgomery Chamber

- ➤ Montgomery Whitewater announced its fall and winter event lineup — featuring an outdoor ice rink, aerial ropes course, family game nights, broomball, trivia, campfire music and special events like Cousin Eddy’s 5K plus a Birmingham Bulls appearance — to offer holiday fun and outdoor adventure for all ages.
