- ➤ Michael Upshaw of Low Price Pallets has hidden wooden pallets with small amounts of cash around town during the holidays — his act of kindness has gone viral on TikTok. WSFA 12
- ➤ The Montgomery County Commission will host its second annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to bring holiday cheer to local residents—featuring festive lighting and seasonal activities. The Montgomery Independent
- ➤ Action 8 is hosting its Magical Christmas Toy Drive to support the Salvation Army by collecting new, unwrapped toys for local families until December 10—Jim Blocker from ServPro said the drive shows Montgomery residents care during the holiday season. WAKA 8
- ➤ The YMCA of Greater Montgomery will host a Father/Child weekend at Camp Chandler on November 22—23. Scott Patterson told WSFA that the event will have planned activities for fathers and children to spend quality time together. WSFA 12
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A Prattville student won the AEA reading contest after more than one million kids competed for one of two special prizes—only two winners were chosen in the statewide contest. WSFA 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Nov. 18, 2025, the educational TV commission voted to keep paying for PBS programs until July & to set up a group to review the channel’s future after a proposal to cut ties met strong public opposition. Supporters gathered at the meeting with signs & stories about how PBS helped their families, which reinforced the decision to stay with the network for now. Alabama Daily News
- ➤ Today, the City of Montgomery donated $100,000 to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank at its Montgomery facility to help residents facing food insecurity as Thanksgiving nears. Mayor Steven Reed urged neighbors to support the effort—the gift is expected to provide 500,000 meals and ease economic hardship in the community. WSFA 12

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Baptist Health has introduced new technology that helps doctors find lung cancer early — allowing treatment to begin sooner. WSFA 12
- ➤ A recent March of Dimes report shows Alabama earned an F on maternal and infant health, with high preterm births and Black mothers facing greater risks — factors that leave thousands of families at risk. State leaders and experts say expanding Medicaid could help improve care, though Gov. Kay Ivey remains concerned about long-term costs. WSFA 12

- ➤ The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Board announced the Class of 2026 inductees Tuesday — eight were chosen by a statewide ballot — marking the 58th class since 1969. The induction banquet will be held on May 9 at the Birmingham Ballroom at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel — a historic venue — where the new inductees join a total of 417 honorees. WSFA 12
- ➤ Alabama Black Belt Adventures Association is hosting its 14th annual Big Buck Photo Contest online, inviting hunters to submit photos of trophy bucks taken from the 23-county Black Belt during the 2025-2026 whitetail deer season.
