COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Action 8’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive held a shopping spree on Nov 19 when Hawthorne, Atchison & Riddle bought over $1,000 in toys at a Walmart Supercenter on Chantilly Parkway and in Selma to help fill the toy vault for the Salvation Army of Montgomery. The drive will continue to gather donations at the Shoppes at EastChase + other drop-off spots and will distribute toys to registered families before Christmas. WAKA 8
- ➤ In November, Heart Gallery Alabama works to match foster children with adoptive families during National Adoption Month — only about 200 of the 6,000 children in foster care are ready for adoption. The nonprofit helps ensure that these children receive the lasting love they need to thrive. WSFA 12
- ➤ That’s My Child hosted its Harvest Heroes Golf Classic at Robert Trent Jones Capitol Hill in Prattville on November 19 to raise funds for programs that support over 300 youth with free job training, mentorship and education. Eighty-seven golfers took part and Greenville Automotive sponsored a car prize — the event continued the nonprofit's yearly effort to help families in need. WAKA 8
- ➤ Mayor Steven L. Reed and Walmart will host Montgomery’s inaugural Turkey Giveaway on Saturday, November 22 at 8:00 a.m. at the Walmart Supercenter—an event that will support local families during the upcoming holiday season. The Montgomery Independent

CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ America is celebrating 250 years, and Alabama has long played a key role with early treaties (1790), secession events, and civil rights milestones. Local museums such as the Museum of Alabama and the Rosa Parks Museum (free Monday through Saturday) display these historical moments for visitors. WSFA 12
- ➤ The Alabama River Region Ballet will perform The Nutcracker at Davis Theatre in Montgomery—this Holiday classic will offer local audiences a festive evening experience. WSFA 12

- ➤ Gun Deer Season opens on Saturday November 22, so hunters can begin deer hunts that follow state rules. WSFA 12
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed presented a $100,000 check to Heart of Alabama Food Bank, which equals about 500,000 meals. He urged the community to help as food insecurity grew from the federal government shutdown and SNAP cuts. WAKA 8
- ➤ Paul Finebaum said he will decide on a Senate run after the college football season ends because he is committed to covering SEC games for ESPN—he noted that political operatives have urged him to run. His decision may add to a list of potential candidates if he opts to join the race. WSFA 12
- ➤ The new Alabama Veterans Resource Center will open in January in a renovated building at the corner of Dexter Avenue and Perry Street in Montgomery to connect veterans with federal, state, and private services. It is run by an 11-member board—set up by a bill passed in February—and will use a digital platform to help veterans access resources. AL.com
